Performance Brake Pads


Performance Brake pads are the parts of your system that actually take the blunt  frictional force necessary to stop your vehicle. Your normal O.E.M Pads have  material that wears out over time. Your pads should be periodically inspected for wear, which is highly variable and depends on your weight and driving habits. Most pads sold today are considered semi-metallic. When you buy aftermarket brake pads they will last twice as long, and these brake pads will not leave as much brake dust on your wheels. Manufacturers often guard their brake pads with actual formula for their brake pads, but in general semi-metallic brake pads use copper, brass, and steel pads wool shavings held together in a resin.


There are four general types of brake pads for your vehicle. Semimetallic: This formula, containing about 30 to 65 percent metal, typically includes chopped steel wool or wire, iron powder, copper or graphite mixed with inorganic fillers, and friction modifiers that bond all the ingredients together are good for your vehicle. These brake pads are more durable and they will perform 80 percent better for your car, and have excellent heat transfer, but also wear down rotors faster on your vehicle, they can be noisy, and may not perform optimally at low temperatures. Nonasbestos organic: Sometimes listed as organic or NAO, these type of brake pads are made from fibers, such as

 

  • glass brake pads
  • rubber brake pads
  • carbon brake pads
  • Kevlar brake pads

with filler materials and high-temperature resins in the brake pads.

These brake pads are softer and create less noise, but they wear faster and create more brake dust. Low-metallic NAO: These are made from an organic formula mixed with small amounts (10 to 30 percent) of copper or steel to help with heat transfer and provide better braking for your car and softer brake pads for your vehicle. With the added metal, there is more brake dust on your stock wheels, and they may be slightly noisier. Ceramic: These are composed of ceramic fibers, nonferrous filler materials, bonding agents, and possibly small amounts of metal. Lighter in color and more expensive than other brake pads, ceramic pads are cleaner and quieter for your car and offer excellent braking characteristics without wearing down the rotors on your vehicle. Ford makes really good brake pads but they are known for squealing. So make sure you buy quality products for your ride. For the safety of you and the vehicles brake pads are a great buy. When your vehicles brake pads is not perfect aftermarket is the answer.
